Avoca is now equipped with its very own Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station.

The station has been installed in the extended carpark in High Street and can recharge two vehicles at once, taking around one hour to charge an average electric car from 20 percent to 80 percent.

“With the use of electric vehicles set to expand rapidly in coming years, these charging stations are an important investment in the future of the region,” Pyrenees Shire Council CEO Jim Nolan said.

“The use of the Beaufort charging station has already exceeded expectations and we look forward to seeing the new Avoca facility in action over coming weeks.”

The new station is one of three which have been installed around the shire including at Amphitheatre and Beaufort as part of the Pyrenees charging network.

In its first five weeks of operation, 83 cars recharged at the Beaufort station.
