Those with Telstra mobile coverage may experience outages or a reduction in coverage next week as Maryborough’s mobile base station is upgraded.
The upgrades will see additional infrastructure added to bring better 4G and new 5G coverage to the area.
Expected outages are:
• Monday, November 13 — there will be an eight-hour outage with the network restored at the end of the workday.
• Tuesday, November 14 to Friday, November 17 there will be no mobile coverage from this site.
• Saturday, November 18 there will be some temporary disruptions during daylight hours.
According to Telstra, customers in the vicinity may be able to obtain service from other Telstra mobile towers during the disruption.
“There’s never a good time to undertake this sort of work but once it is completed, it will mean better mobile services for local residents,” Telstra Regional General Manager Steve Tinker said.
Landline services, NBN internet and mobile coverage from other providers will not be impacted.
