Maldon relished the previous week off and they opened full of run with the first four goals of the game in their 60-point victory over Maryborough Rovers.

The first goal of the game came from a great piece of link up play which started in the back half and Rhys Ford was on the end of it for his first goal of the game just a minute into the game.

Maldon was dominating possession out of the centre bounces and took full advantage through four different goal kickers to lead by 24 points just 10 minutes into the game.

Marshall Murray seemed to set Rovers alight when he snapped the visitors first goal at the 13-minute mark, which was followed by another from Andrew Siekai and Trae Ewart’s check side goal late in the term had Rovers up and about with excitement, trailing by just 13 points at quarter time.

The second term belonged to Maldon as they once again kicked four goals through individual players, before Rovers’ Mitch Whelan kicked a freakish goal that bounced sideways in the goal square past the outstretched hands of the Maldon defender. But it wasn’t enough to prevent the Dons from leading by 35 at the main break.

The second half was a scrappy affair, but it was once again the Dons that asserted their authority with three goals to one in the third term, and the same result in the final term with Maldon again kicking three goals to just one for Rovers which came from a toe poke from James Muller.

Maldon’s best players were brothers, Brodie Leonard-Shannon and Oliver Leonard-Shannon, Josh Pascoe, Matthew Gray, Billy Miller and Jordon Collins, with Ford snagging five goals.

Rovers’ best were Murray, Whelan, Chris Scragg, Monty Reeves, Liam Radlof and Jake Dyer.
