Talbot was soundly defeated by Maldon on Saturday by 79 points at the Bill Woodfull Oval.

The Hawks played a couple of first gamers in Brayden Braddock and Chris Bryant and were up and about early and led at quarter time by five points over the Bombers, but from this point in the game, Maldon kicked 15 goals to the Hawks’ two.

It was a disappointing result for the Hawks having just 12 shots on goal to the Bombers 31, but they still managed to move into eighth position after Newstead were smashed by Natte Bealiba and lost eighth spot by percentage.

The Hawks had no answer in defence as Cody Gunn slotted five goals, Noah Thompson kicked four goals and Brodie Leonard-Shannon also slotted four goals to move just three goals behind MCDFNL leading goalkicker James Regan, who did not play on the weekend. Maldon’s better players were Seb Greene, Leonard-Shannon, Adam Robinson, Matt Gray, Gunn and Thompson.

Talbot were well served by Luke Kemp, Aaron Collicoat, Trent Barras, Mitchell Webb, Alex Marshall and Jude McGuire, with Kemp being the only multiple goal scorer with two of the Hawks five goals.
