Maryborough juniors plotting for 2025
While the senior arm of the Maryborough Football Netball Club will go into recess for the 2025 season, the juniors are ready to make their mark on another big season.

Having enjoyed premiership success through their under 14s in both 2023 and 2024, a new committee and new coaches are ready to continue the club’s growth throughout 2025.
The club will host a meet and greet on Thursday night from 5.30 pm onwards, with former Mary-borough players Jake Lohmann and Aidan Hare special guests to help deliver football activities, while also an opportunity to meet the club’s new coaches.
Members, past players and supporters are also invited and urged to attend by the club.
Ryan Boyes will be the under 10s coach, while Ben Heathcock takes the under 12s position. Matt Stevens will coach the under 14s and Matt Bartlett will take the under 16s coaching position.
Recently, the club also held its Annual General Meeting, with Glen Bardsley taking over the role of club president from Scott Quinlan.
Shannyn Stevens will be the secretary, while Anna Bartlett is treasurer, and Boyes will be junior football coordinator.
In a press release from the club, Bardsley said it was an exciting time for the club’s juniors.
“The Bendigo Junior Football League continues to provide our young local footballers with the opportunity to represent Mary-borough throughout Bendigo and central Victoria,” he said.
“In 2025 we’ll build on the success of our 2024 season and continue to represent the club in all age groups including under 10s, under 12s, under 14s and under 16s.
“It was important to our committee that our junior coaches demonstrate a commitment to nurturing player development, bring strong leadership and communi-cation skills and have ability to inspire our next generation of football stars.
“We’re really proud of our 2025 coaching group and we thank each of them for their willingness to develop the skills and abilities of our junior players whilst at the same time providing a supportive, fun and encouraging environment.
“We look forward to welcoming back current players and as always, we welcome new players in all age groups.”
From a senior football and netball front, a current taskforce has been established, with Gerard Murphy leading the group to put together a timeline for the club to emerge out of recess for the 2026 season.
