The local library is turning pink this October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Maryborough Regional Library staff will be dressing in pink on certain days during the month, setting up pink book displays and running pink-themed storytime sessions to raise funds for not-for-profit organisation Breast Cancer Network Australia which supports Australians affected by breast cancer.

Library team leader Bec Clark said a limited number of pink library cards will be available this month to go towards the fundraiser.

“We did a similar fundraiser for The Pyjama Foundation (supporting foster children) a few years ago and raised quite a substantial amount of money, so this year we wanted to do something again for another cause,” she said.

“We’ve brought in pink versions of our library cards — you can now pay $2 to get a new pink card, with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer Network Australia. We only have about 250 cards so they’re limited edition. We’ve also got a donation tin set up in the library.”
