CAMPBELLS CREEK (49) def by MARYBOROUGH ROVERS (63)
Maryborough Rovers dealt a blow to Campbells Creek’s finals hopes with a 14-goal victory at Campbells Creek on Saturday afternoon.
Rovers shot out of the blocks from the outset and were ruthless in putting away Creek throughout the first three quarters before easing to victory.
It was a strong start for Rovers, who scored 17 goals in the opening period to lead by seven goals, before scoring 16 goals to 12 in the second quarter to lead 33-22 at half time.
The third quarter saw Rovers score 15 goals to Creek’s nine to extend their lead to a game-high 17 goals at the final break and essentially wrap up proceedings.
A high-scoring final quarter proved to be Creek’s best of the afternoon, scoring 18 goals to 15, but it was not enough to prevent Rovers from taking their third win of season 2022, winning 63-49.
Best for Rovers were Julie Anderson, Mia Hayes and Quetta Holloway-Jinks, with Hayes scoring 35 goals in what was a very impressive offensive performance — with the teams’ highest goal tally of the season so far.
Creek were well served by Jemma Finning, Eloise Jones and Jessica Rhone, with Lillie Wrigley scoring 27 goals for the afternoon.
