Visitor restrictions are currently in place at Maryborough’s Wattle Rise Nursing Home due to a COVID outbreak in the centre.

The nursing home is run by the Maryborough District Health Service and in a statement on Sunday, MDHS Acting CEO David Edwards said the health service is being supported by the Grampians Public Health Unit and government agencies to manage the outbreak.

“We would like to reassure everyone that we are doing everything we can to stop the spread of the virus and protect the safety of our residents,” the statement read.

“Staff are communicating with residents and their nominated representatives to keep them informed about the situation, and to maintain connections with family and friends.

“We understand this may be a stressful time for staff, residents, and their families and friends.

“Thank you for your understanding while staff focus on implementing our outbreak management plan, and continuing to provide quality, person-centered care to residents.”

Mr Edwards said the health service is following government public health advice and implementing measures that balance care and compassion with protection and caution.

Visitor restrictions will be in place until at least July 16.
