Students around the region have been successful in recent athletics competitions across the state.

The headline result saw the Maryborough Education Centre team of Charlie Sullivan, Will Soulsby, Brian Shafik-Eid and Logan Howell take out the School Sport Victoria State Championships for the 15-year-old boys 4x100m relay, which was completed in a time of 47.75, taking the win from Frankston and Vermont.

Jake Gavriliadis had a great personal day, finishing second in the 17-year-old boys discus competition and third in the shotput, while Tahlia Jordan finished third in the 15-year-old girls high jump. Naomi Henderson finished second in the 15-year-old girls triple jump to finish off a great day for Maryborough in the competition.

Prior to that, the Loddon Mallee region held their primary track and field championships last week, with the standout result Dunolly Primary School’s Mia Schodde’s win in the girls’ 12-13 high jump.
