Games between Highland Gold and Highland Tartan, Dunolly Gold and Carisbrook, Dunolly Blue and Avoca and Maryborough Golf and Talbot were all unplayable thanks to the wet weather, meaning all clubs took eight points apiece.

With just two weeks to go until the Christmas and New Year’s break, key games which sees the top four meet will be crucial this week.

Uniquely, every division of the Goldfields Playing Area across the next week will see first take on second, with Highland Tartan taking on Dunolly Blue at the Highland Society.

Dunolly Blue have the early season bragging rights, having landed a 33-shot win in round one.

Third spot is on the line, with Talbot hosting Highland Gold. The winner looks set to maintain their charge as the nearest challenger to the top two, but the loser could be out of the top four altogether, with just five points separating third and fifth.

Fifth-placed Maryborough Golf could stand to benefit from that game as they host the winless Dunolly Gold, with a win likely taking them up to as high as third depending on other results.

Finally, the final game of the round sees Carisbrook and Avoca hoping to keep their finals chances alive, with both teams deadlocked on 40 points, just over a game behind Maryborough Golf on the ladder.
