The Maryborough Highland Bowls conducted a successful running of their flagship event, the Monster Triples, following a year’s break due to COVID.

The event attracted players from all over the state, with many coming from local regions, Ballarat and Bendigo, while also bringing teams from Melbourne suburbs such as Berwick, Ivanhoe, Werribee and Diggers Rest.

Twenty-eight teams comprising of 84 players played over two days.

The winners came from Kangaroo Flat, with the team of skipper Geoff Boys, Barry Hogan and Wayne Walsh, taking six victories and receiving $1500 prizemoney.

A composite Ballarat and Maryborough team of skipper Greg Plyer, Ian Long and Garry Coburn were runners-up with five wins, while a Bendigo-based team of Phill Godkin, Barry Anset and Con O’Shea placed third with four wins.

Pleasingly, entries have already been received for the 2024 event.
