A strong defensive performance and a dominant third quarter were catalysts for Natte Bealiba’s 41-point win over Dunolly, rendering the Eagles goalless.

The first half was a titanic struggle in terrible conditions for footy, with no goals scored in the opening quarter, and just one in the second quarter.

Both teams had five scoring shots each, with Natte taking a five-point lead into the main break.

But it was the third quarter which saw the Swans kick away and take command, scoring four goals straight while keeping the Eagles scoreless, as they finally broke their defensive resistance.

A further two goals in the last quarter ensured that the Swans would score a good win, with just 18 scoring shots across both teams from the entire day as the intensifying rain made it hard for both teams.

Jordi Cossar and co-captains Zac Mortlock and Joshua Grant were assured for the Swans, while Will Holt and Stephen Ross kicked two goals apiece.

Dunolly ultimately ran out of legs in the second half as the toll of playing in the rain for a second consecutive week was telling, and they will have been disappointed not to register a goal.

Playing-coach Bailey Goodwin put in another stellar performance, while Lachlan Tranter and Hamish Richards worked hard.
