MARYBOROUGH ROVERS (46) drew with NAVARRE (46)

The third draw of the 2022 season could prove to be costly for both Navarre and Maryborough Rovers’ finals aspirations, picking up only two points while others around them were able to kick clear on the ladder.

That said, it was a reasonably topsy-turvy game, with Navarre quickly taking advantage throughout the first half, before Rovers slowly pegged the Hoppers back in.

The Hoppers were able to score 15 goals to nine in the first quarter to open up a six-goal lead at the first change.

The second quarter was very even, with both teams scoring 11 goals to see Navarre lead 26-20 at the main change.

Rovers needed a response to keep their season alive, and they were able to get one in the third quarter, scoring 13 goals while restricting the Hoppers to eight to reduce the margin to one goal at the final change.

With the game on the line, both teams threw everything at goal, with Rovers scoring 13 and Navarre scoring 12. However, at the final horn, both teams could not be seperated, ending on 46 goals apiece.

No best on court votes were provided from either team.

A player who was not named in match results was Maryborough Rovers’ leading scorer with 26, while Abbey Raven scored 20 goals.

For Navarre, Bek Seeary-Pye scored 36 goals to lead the way.
