Navarre showed that their best football is still as good as anyone’s in the competition, taking an 87-point win over Lexton.

In particular, it was the first and third quarters where much of the damage was done, as the Hoppers held the Tigers to a solitary goal.

While the Tigers still sit one game outside the top eight, their percentage of 63 currently looks to pose an issue going into the second half of the season, as they now desperately need some big wins to overtake the likes of Maldon and Dunolly to get into the eight.

Navarre took immediate control of the game thanks to a five-goal start, while Lexton were held to just one behind, with the Hoppers leading by 30 points at the first change.

Lexton had their chances in the second quarter, but could only manage one goal, through Darren Cook, from their five shots on goal, while Navarre were economical in kicking two goals to extend their lead to 33 points at the main break.

It was all the Hoppers in the third quarter as they ended the contest, kicking another five goals, while holding Lexton to a point as they led by 63 at the final change.

Another four goals to two behinds saw the winning margin creep towards 15 goals.

Cody Driscoll was in the thick of everything for the Hoppers, kicking nine goals in a dominant display, while Harry Bigmore, Wil Clough, Jayden Fowkes, Brady Tillig and Josh Fowkes were also in the best.

For Lexton, James Templeton, Jordan Phelan, Lachlan Pryor, Josh Sargent, Thomas Cullinan and Tyler Richards were named in their best.
