It was predicted to be a close game at Navarre on Saturday and it finished with the home team winning over the Giants by just four points in a thriller.

The Giants took control early in the game and would have been very confident at quarter time when they led by ten points kicking three goals to one.

But Navarre won the second term and reduced the margin to just three points at half time.

It was the third quarter that Navarre took control of the game handling the slippery conditions better, kicking four goals to two, to lead the final change by nine points.

It was a very exciting final quarter, with both teams finding it difficult to score, but Damian Cupido struck first to kick his fourth goal of the game to be within striking distance, but Navarre answered with a goal to Baxter Cheesman.

Zayne Earl took a strong pack mark in the goal square area and kicked the final goal of the game, but it was not enough to put the Giants in front.

Navarre’s better players were Luke Hendy, Sam Rickard, Brady Tillig, Jacob Martin, Wil Clough and Austin Squire, with Clough kicking three goals.

Giants named Earl, Blake Dawson, John Leathan and Jonathon Short as their better players with Cupido kicking four goals.
