New councillors take their oaths
The Central Goldfields Shire’s newly elected councillors were officially sworn into office Wednesday night, marking a new era for local representation.
Some existing faces will represent the community in the council chamber for the coming four-year term, with incumbents Liesbeth Long, Gerard Murphy, Grace La Vella and Anna De Villiers retaining their seats.
They will be joined by first-time councillors Geoff Bartlett, Jacob Meyer and Ben Green, repre-senting the Maryborough North, Maryborough East and Paddys Ranges wards respectively.
A statutory council meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 26 to appoint the mayor and delegation of committee roles to councillors.
This election marked the first under a revised ward structure for the Central Goldfields local government area, which saw the previous Maryborough Ward, represented by four councillors, divided into four new wards each with one elected representative.
Representation for each ward is as follows:
Flynn — Liesbeth Long
Maryborough Central — Gerard Murphy
Maryborough East — Jacob Meyer
Maryborough North — Geoff Bartlett
Maryborough West — Grace La Vella
Paddys Ranges — Ben Green
Tullaroop — Anna De Villiers
