Picnic Point open
A frequently visited recreation area at Cairn Curran Reservoir has reopened following the completion of various works, including a new all-abilities toilet block.
Picnic Point is located on the western side of the reservoir off Boundary Road, south of Baringup.
The site was closed in May to allow for Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) to complete the works, including the construction of an all-abilities toilet block, and maintenance on the recreation area’s picnic shelter and boat ramp.
GMW manager storage operations south Paul Beard said he was pleased with the improvements.
“Picnic Point is a popular area for people visiting Cairn Curran Reservoir and now with the new all-ability facilities, even more people will be able to enjoy the location,” Mr Beard said.
“We want everyone to be able to enjoy our lakes, dams, and reservoirs, so it’s great we now have accessible amenities at both Picnic Point to Cairn Curran’s west, and Woolshed Bay to its right.”
The works were jointly funded by GMW, the Victorian Fisheries Authority, and Better Boating Victoria.
Contracts for the works were awarded to Environmental Vegetation Management Australia, Purablue — Public Toilet Restrooms, and East Gippsland Building Permits.
Mr Beard thanked people for their cooperation during the works.
“We appreciate people’s patience over the last few weeks when the recreation area has been closed,” he said.
“All the works have been completed to a high standard and we are pleased to have Picnic Point open for people to enjoy once more.”
