Police are appealing for public assistance after two dogs were stolen in Moliagul and later found deceased nearby.
The two Jack Russell’s, three-year-old Sassy and six-month-old Buzzy, were outside a property with their owner on Moliagul Drive on July 16 when it’s understood a white utility pulled up at about 11.30 am.
Investigators were told the driver opened the door, stole the two dogs then fled the scene in the vehicle.
Both dogs were located by a member of the public along the side of Wimmera Highway the next day, around six kilometres from where they were stolen.
Police are continuing to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and investigations are ongoing.
A photo of Sassy and Buzzy has been released, as well as an image of a utility similar to the one believed used in the incident. It is understood the tray of the utility was damaged.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam/CCTV footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
