Trespassers, drugs, and prohibited weapon found by police on local properties, owing to information provided anonymously by the public.

Investigators from the Goldfields Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) have executed search warrants in Carisbrook and Maryborough because of assistance received from Crime Stoppers’ reports.

A search warrant was executed on May 22 at a Green Street, Carisbrook unit complex where 28 grams of alleged methylamphetamine was seized.

It led to a man aged in his 40s being charged with trafficking drugs of dependence — he was bailed to appear at the Maryborough court on August 29.

A further search warrant was executed the following day on May 23 at an address in High Street Maryborough where a male was found with a taser — he was charged with possessing a prohibited weapon and drugs of dependence.

He was placed on bail.

On May 28, a further search at an address was conducted under the Firearms Prohibition Order legislation in Carisbrook where a male in his 40s was arrested and charged for handling stolen goods and a female in her 30s was charged for possessing drugs of dependence.

Another search was conducted the same day in Inkerman Street, Maryborough — where occupants were located unlawfully on the premises, and were vacated and processed for trespassing offences.

Detective Sergeant Steve Atkinson thanked the public for their help.

“Anonymous and confidential Crime Stoppers’ reports from members of the public have assisted greatly in these investigations —especially with the reporting of suspicious activity,” he said.

“We urge the community to continue to supply police with this type of information going forward, so we can continue to achieve these results.

“Detectives at Goldfields CIU are working very hard to keep the community safe.”
