The 2022 state election is just weeks away, with Victorians heading to the polls to elect the 60th Victorian Parliament on November 26 — and your voter details need to be checked now to ensure you’re correctly enrolled.

Ripon is one of the most marginal seats in the state, with current member Louise Staley retaining the seat at the 2018 election by just 15 votes from Labor candidate Sarah De Santis following a recount.

Early voting centres for the 2022 election will be open from November 14, Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately said.

“An increased number of early voting centres will be open from Monday, November 14 to 6 pm on Friday, November 25 all around Victoria, and at a number of interstate locations,” he said.

“You can also apply for a postal vote if you can’t make it to a voting centre or you would just prefer to vote by post.”

Telephone-assisted voting will be available to voters who are blind, have low vision or those who have a physical disability and require assistance to vote from November 14 through to 6 pm on election day.

Voters in areas impacted by floods occurring on or after October 13 and unable to access a voting centre from November 19 to 6 pm on November 26 will also be able to register and vote using telephone assisted voting.

Candidates who have currently announced they will vie for the seat of Ripon, in no particular order, are independent Bernard Quince, current member Louise Staley (Liberal), Labor’s Martha Haylett, the Greens’ Earl James, and the Animal Justice Party’s Holly Sitters.

More candidates will likely nominate, with nominations open until November 10.

You now have five days to enrol or update your voter details which can be done at the VEC website at vec.vic.gov.au.

The rolls will officially close at 8 pm on Tuesday, November 8.

There will only be one early voting station in the Central Goldfields Shire, located in Maryborough at Tren Du Bourg Hall at 3 Neill Street.

The centre will be open to voters from 9 am to 6 pm on November 14, and 8.30 am to 8 pm on November 15, 17, and 24.
