Australia Post is ringing the festive alarm bells on Santa’s behalf, encouraging local children to send their letters to the North Pole before time runs out — with only three weeks left till he stocks up his sleigh.

Kids in the Central Goldfields Shire are being asked to fire off their wishlists to Santa before December 1, ensuring they get in their request in time by dropping off their letters at the nearest post box.

With over 170,000 messages delivered to Santa last year, Maryborough Post Office postal manager Kristy Bardsley said locally, this year was looking really promising as well.

“It’s just been amazing this year. I think the last couple of years have been a bit quiet but this time everyone’s a little more excited,” she said.

“We’ve been getting a 100 to 200 letters a day at the moment — the community really enjoys it as well, they absolutely embrace it.

“I think this initiative is important to bring the magic of Christmas to the kids, make sure everyone enjoys it, us included and seeing the smiles on their faces, that’s what makes us happy.”

Letters should be addressed to Santa, North Pole 9999 with a 65 cent Christmas stamp on the front of the envelope and your name and return address on the back, so Santa knows where to send his reply.

Parents and children who have low vision can opt-in to receive a large text reply from Santa by sending their letters to Santa Mail (large text), North Pole 9999.

All Santa Mail letters can be placed in any red street posting box or dropped off at the local Post Office.
