At a junior level, promising young gun Darcy Wood was rewarded for his spectacular season, finishing fifth in the under 14 open vote count.

Wood polled 15 votes after a season which saw him score 22 goals, which included three hattricks, two of them against Bacchus Marsh Yellow, and another big effort against Vikings Blue, scoring in 11 games.

The vote count would eventually be won by Ballarat’s Liam O’Keeffe on 26 votes.

On Saturday night, the club hosted its presentation night, with a close count the highlight.

Luke Bucknall, Jake Bucknall and Garry George were all chances going into the final round of the season, but it was Luke that would take out the title, scoring 15 votes to win by two from Jake, with George third a further vote behind.

Jake wouldn’t go home empty-handed, taking home the players’ player of the year, while David Scofield would win the golden boot for the most goals throughout the season.
