Maryborough Soccer Club will have a chance for a first win of the season when they travel to Victoria Park in Daylesford to face Daylesford and Hepburn United.

The blue-and-whites will be keen to atone for a heartbreaking last-second defeat in their last game in round two, having had the bye in round three.

On that occasion, the team travelled to Creswick for a standalone Friday night game, and took an early lead courtesy of Riley Gardam’s well-crafted finish into the bottom left corner.

However, goals to Damien Saw and a last-minute winner to Nelson Grixti allowed Creswick to escape with a victory, extending Maryborough’s wait for a win.

This week presents a chance for the team, with Daylesford and Hepburn United currently sitting on the bottom of the table, having conceded the most goals in the competition.

Daylesford, themselves, are coming off a 4-2 loss to Creswick at home, and will be desperate to get their first win of the season as well.

Elsewhere, Maryborough are flying in the junior competitions.

Their first home game at Jubilee Oval for the season in the under 14 competition last week saw them defeat Bacchus Marsh 11-0, and they currently sit second in the competition with two wins, and will look to make it three on the trot in their clash with Daylesford, which precedes the senior meeting.

Maryborough’s under nines groups will both host home games, with Maryborough Blue hosting Vikings, and Maryborough Gold hosting Forest Rangers, both at Coronation Park.
