Maryborough Soccer Club watched an early lead evaporate as they lost 3-1 to Creswick on Sunday at Jubilee Oval.

The blue and whites made an enterprising start to affairs as they were able to enjoy the better of the terms early on, and were rewarded inside the first 20 minutes as a high ball troubled Creswick, with Jake Bucknall scoring from a header.

However, Creswick were able to slowly get back on terms, and were rewarded when they won a penalty at the half hour mark to equalise.

At half time, the score was 1-1, but Creswick started the better in the second half, and got their reward early on to take the lead.

Unfortunately, Maryborough would go down to 10 men later on, with goalkeeper Bayden MacIntyre fouling in a one on one, conceding a second penalty, and was sent off.

While Creswick missed the penalty, they would soon score a third goal to make the three points safe.

Meantime, a first half blitz from the under 14s ensured that the blue and whites scored a 5-3 win over Ballarat Black.

Maryborough scored five goals in the first half to lead comfortably, with Darcy Wood continuing his terrific form to score a brace, while Brayden Martin, Jacob Antolini and Sebastian Sayson also scored to take an important three points, and move to fifth position in the process.
