Maryborough’s improved form in the Ballarat District Soccer Association culminated in the club earning their second draw of the division one season, securing a 1-1 draw with Creswick to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive.
The blue and whites had to come from behind to secure the result, which was their second of the season, moving them up to five points on the table, still four behind Daylesford in second last.
However, with a home clash against Ballarat — a team that drew with Maryborough in their last meeting — as well as an important home meeting with Daylesford still to come, results like this draw could prove to be handy in the long run.
Creswick hit the scoreboard first in the 26th minute, with Florian Metivier putting the Cougars 1-0 up.
But Maryborough were determined to reward their competitive performances with a result, and were able to find the back of the net in the 68th minute through Brett Davy.
While the blue and whites looked to find a winner, it was not to be, and a draw sufficed.
Maryborough will now take a week off before their clash with Ballarat on Sunday, July 9.
