That’s 32 on the trot for Harcourt, but they had to do it while facing an almighty challenge all the way from the Maryborough Giants, before eventually recording an eight-point victory.
The Giants were desperately close to posting a first victory, but will have to wait another week, while as it transpired for Harcourt, they were the only home team to win on the weekend.
The Lions started well enough, kicking three goals to two in the first quarter to open up a seven-point lead, and were then able to increase it in the second term thanks to five goals to three to increase the lead to 19 points by the main break.
But things started to happen for the Giants, and they put together one of their best quarters in their young history, storming back into the game by adding four goals to one for the quarter to draw level with the Lions at the final change.
With the game on the line, things were tight in the final quarter, but the Lions were able to hold on in kicking two goals to one to have their noses in front when it mattered most.
The result means the Lions are unbeaten, but have had to work much harder for their victories this season, with the result reducing their average winning margin to 21.8 points, which now includes three results of under 10 points.
Jed Rodda led the way with three goals for the Lions, while Jacob Ede played an instrumental role, with Trent Leech, Braydon Baz, Rodda, Paul Chaplin and Joshua Hogg also named in the best.
The Giants have been close on a number of occasions to score a breakthrough victory, and have now lost three games by under 13 points, yet have also been competitive against a number of top eight sides, suggesting a breakthrough must be close.
Declan Wagstaff was outstanding, while Kieran Johns, Murray Bond, Aiden Carter, Cody Wright and Matt Walker were also named in the best.
