Success for Team Lazaros
It’s been an eventful couple months for Team Lazaros BJJ and Muay Thai, with Alayla Savvidis travelling to Western Australia and securing another state gold medal in blue belt juvenile division along with her gold from Victoria and NSW.
This means Alayla is now ranked second in the blue belt juvenile in Australia.
At the Australian jiu jitsu championships held in August, the team secured more gold with Travis McLeod taking gold in the male masters white belt ultra heavy division, while Cruz Walker took silver in the juniors 10 year old division.
Bella Savvidis took gold in the juniors grey belt 42.3 kg division winning the final by submission, while Alayla took gold in the juvenile blue belt +69kg division.
On the weekend the team took 13 competitors to the Will-Machado National gathering championship.
There were a host of award winners.
Archie Mason won gold in the six year old white belt -28kg division, and Marlee Jez won gold in the seven year old white belt -33kg division.
Bibby Montague won silver in the girls grey belt teen 13 year old -56.5kg, while Oliver Holmes won silver in the boys grey belt junior 10 year old -36.2kg division.
Indy Mason won silver and Grace Holmes won bronze, both in the girls white belt -33.2 kg division.
Walker took silver in the juniors 12 white belt -36.2 kg division, while Bella won gold in juniors 11 years old -48.3kg division.
Harvey Mitchell won silver in teens 13 year olds -56kg division, with an impressive 17 points in his first match.
Mickey Savvidis won silver in the 14 years old grey -60kg division, and Jock Mitchell won silver in the teen 15 year old -73kg division.
Alayla won gold in juvenile blue belt division, Nick Dan took a guillotine submission win in his first match and unfortunately lost his second match, and Steven Ward rounded out the weekend with a silver in blue masters four ultra heavy divisions.
