The top two will converge on True Blue Floors Oval when Laanecoorie Dunolly and Carisbrook meet.

Laane are all but assured a spot in the first grand final of the season, and can secure their berth with a victory on Saturday, however, Carisbrook will be determined to try and prevent a loss which could see it drop out of the top two.

If they are to win, however, they will need to improve greatly on their performance against Clunes on Sunday.

The Brookers were unable to get into a rhythm against the Magpies on Bull Millgate Oval, and were probably about 20 to 30 runs short of making a defendable total in the end, with the Magpies chasing their total of 86 down in 16.2 overs.

There were some commendable performances, notwithstanding.

Dean Nalder handled the conditions the best throughout the weekend with the bat, making 22 on Sunday, while William Coutts was solid throughout, and finished unbeaten on 13 after making 33 on Saturday.

For Laane, the show goes on, continuing their unbeaten ways and fresh off the biggest partnership with the bat so far this season to boot.

Laane’s 1/173 against the Owls on Saturday featured a 153-run partnership between Tom Hannett and Sam Bartlett, which showed just how powerful both batsmen can be at their best, with Hannett finishing unbeaten on 55, and Bartlett finishing on 68.

With the ball, Laane did a terrific job of slowing down the run rate after the Owls made a hot start through Tom Hart, who blazed his way to a quickly made 63 as the Owls were on 85 for no loss.

However, Daniel Romeo and Sergio Rosier were chief destroyers, with both players finishing with three wickets each.

This will be a game very much worth looking forward to given the star power that is in play.

Batting wise, Bartlett, Nalder, Martin Mark and Hannett are inside the top 10 for the batting at the moment, while Nick Broad, Romeo and Sergio Rosier are all in the top 10 wicket-takers, showing how busy their start to the season has been for their respective clubs.
