The B.A Road Services Talbot Hawks have kept their finals chances alive, taking a 21-goal victory over Dunolly to move to within a game of the top eight at the Talbot Recreation Reserve.

The Hawks shot out of the blocks as they looked to take an important victory, scoring 15 goals to six in the opening term to take a commanding lead. Dom Roche scored eight goals, while Eleisha Phelps added seven, while for Dunolly, Zoe Aldridge scored four goals, and Kate Ashman two.

The second quarter was a lot tighter, with Dunolly reducing Talbot’s scoring output, but it was still a nine-goal to eight quarter which saw the Hawks lead 24-14 at the main break. For the Hawks, Phelps scored five and Roche four, and for Dunolly, Aldridge scored five and Ashman three.

The game continued to be extremely competitive in the third term, with both teams scoring 13 goals apiece to see the Hawks lead 37-27 at the final change. Roche scored seven goals and Phelps six for the Hawks, while for the Eagles, Aldridge scored 11 goals and Ashman two.

The last quarter saw the Hawks dominate across the board, scoring 19 goals to eight in one of their most dominant quarters for years to eventually take a comfortable victory. Phelps scored 11 goals to finish with 29 goals for the Hawks, while Roche added eight to finish with 27. For the Eagles, Aldridge scored seven goals to finish with 27 goals, while Ashman added one.
