Talbot were able to defeat Avoca in wet, drizzly conditions by 29 points.

Unlike many games this season, Avoca were actually out of the blocks in the opening term and actually led at the first break by 12 points.

However, Avoca could only manage to score two goals in each of the remaining quarters, with Talbot averaging four goals.

The game had some controversy attached, when Avoca captain Darcy Carey called for a head count early in the final term to find that Talbot had an extra man on the ground.

The rules state that a free kick to the opposition team and a 50-metre penalty should have had Carey kicking for goal on the goal line, but the umpire awarded the free from the position on the ground when the play was stopped.

However, despite this incident, Talbot were the best team on the day, led by their ground level players in Luke Kemp and Jude McGuire who along with Jayson Atkins were too quick for the Bulldogs and set up many attacking moves.

Others to play well for Talbot were Trent Severino, Aaron Collicoat and Judd Troon.

Avoca’s Sean Moyle continues to impress, while Byron Wynd, Tyson Gray, Carey and Bryce Howell also gave their all for the Bulldogs with Nathan Coghlan kicking four goals.
