Round three of Saturday pennant was played on the weekend, with Highland Tartan continuing to establish themselves as the early pace-setter after winning a thrilling encounter with Talbot Gold.
In what was the tightest affair of the round, Highland Tartan gave themselves an early buffer by taking a 21-12 victory on rink one at Talbot Bowls Club, before Talbot Gold hit back with a 20-17 victory on rink two. But Highland Tartan took 14 premiership points with a 17-15 victory on rink three for a 55-47 win.
They continue to sit on top spot on the ladder by two points, with Dunolly Blue hot on their heels thanks to a 65-42 victory over Dunolly Gold.
Dunolly Blue were able to take two good victories on rinks one and two, with a 25-7 victory on rink one followed by a 24-18 victory on rink two. Dunolly Gold were able to at least take two match points with a 17-16 win on rink three.
Highland Red scored their first victory of the season thanks to an impressive 79-38 victory over Newstead Blue at Newstead Bowls Club.
They were able to take two of the three rinks comfortably, with a 35-10 victory on rink one and a 32-7 win on rink three, but Newstead Blue were able to take home two match points thanks to a 21-12 victory on rink two.
Avoca Red, likewise, took their first win of the season, defeating Maryborough Golf Blue 72-48.
They were able to take a handy lead after the first rink, winning 19-13, before Golf Blue hit back, winning 22-20 on rink two. Avoca Red were able to clinch 14 premiership points with a 33-13 victory on rink three.
In division two, Carisbrook continued to do all the running with a sweep over Talbot Brown at Talbot Bowls Club with an impressive 90-33 victory.
A 23-15 victory on rink one set Carisbrook on their way, before an even more impressive 28-9 victory on rink two was followed by a crushing 39-9 victory to keep them unbeaten and on top of the ladder.
They are one of two teams to remain unbeaten in division two, with Highland White recording a strong 74-42 victory over Maldon at the Maryborough Highlands Society.
A 26-12 victory to Highland White on rink one set them on their way, before a 28-9 victory ensured they would at least take home 14 premiership points. They narrowly missed out on completing the sweep, however, with Maldon fighting back on rink three to prevail 21-20 and take home two important premiership points, which helps keep them in third place on the ladder.
Maryborough Golf Gold took their first victory of the year and moved into fourth place courtesy of a thrilling win against Avoca Gold.
Avoca Gold were able to do the early running, taking a 22-16 victory on rink one, before Golf Gold hit back with a 22-15 victory on rink two. With everything on the line, it was Golf Gold that proved a little too strong on rink three, winning 18-14 to take a 56-51 victory, and 14 premiership points.
Dunolly Green used a strong rink three win to take their first victory of the season over Newstead White.
Despite winning the first two rinks 21-13 and 20-16, Newstead White were unable to take full points, with Dunolly Green taking a 29-4 victory on rink three to ensure they would take 12 premiership points by winning the day 58-45.
