Maryborough’s Team Lazaros BJJ and Muay Thai club has continued their terrific form across the country, competing in the New South Wales Jiu Jitsu state championships last week-end.
Alayla, Mickey and Bella Savvidis were all able to take medals in Sydney, typifying the spirit that they compete with.
Alayla was able to take gold in the blue belt juvenile two 65 kg+ category, dominating her two matches, scoring a 38 second submission in her first match, before winning 17-0 in the second.
Mickey was able to take gold in the teenage two 14-year-old division 60.5 kg category, with both matches won by submission.
Bella competed hard as an 11-year-old in the 13-year-old 48.3 kg division, and despite giving up size, was able to use her technique to take her second match to take bronze.
It continued Team Lazaros’ outstanding form in 2024, having taken three golds and two silvers at the Victorian Jiu Jitsu Championships in May.
