Talbot Golf Club’s ladies were pleased to hold a gymkhana three ball better ball stableford event, which was open to teams across the goldfields region on Tuesday, July 4.

As a result, 14 teams made the trip, with teams represented from Avoca, Ballarat, Beaufort, Bunin-yong, Creswick, Hepburn, Maryborough, Mt Xavier and Midlands.

Although the weather was quite wet on the day, the Avoca team navigated the conditions the best, winning with 45 points, while Beaufort were runners-up with 44 points.

Hepburn’s Sue Howard had the longest drive of the day, with Midlands’ Fiona Davison having the straightest drive.

Nearest to the pin saw Avoca’s Jody Frost closest on the second, with Maryborough’s Stacy Smith-wick closest on 12 and Mt Xavier’s Stacey Forrest closest on 14. Midlands’ Carolyn McMickan picked up the magpie ball.

The golf club will be holding its annual tournament from August 15-20.

Beaufort’s Trish Martin, Joan Fraser and Isobel Lusby were runners-up.
