Maryborough resident Catherine Karakai was delighted to get back her eclectus parrot Rubie who was found two years after she went missing.
Local power lifter Denai Derecki competed at the Amateur Athletics Union World Bench Press in Las Vegas, and achieved two world records in the women’s dead lift (lifting 160kg) and lifting 75kg in the women’s bench press.
State education minister at the time Martin Dixon visited MEC for the official opening of the school’s new sports oval.
Maryborough’s Uniting Church in Argyle Road announced it would be closing to merge with the town’s other Uniting Church congregation of St Andrew’s in Neill Street.

Majorca’s general store closed its doors on November 30 — it’d been a local fixture since 1866. While the business was no longer viable, The Advertiser at the time noted during the gold rush, Majorca at one time had 27 hotels.
Local driver Robert Mortlock claimed the Maryborough Pacing Cup aboard Averley.
Heidi Knitwear brought the knitwear industry to Talbot, employing 22 people and creating items including women’s dresses, knitted fabrics, and other basic garments to be sold in chain stores including Coles and Myers.
The Maryborough Knitting Mills celebrated the Golden Jubilee of its establishment in the town.
This month it was announced that the Maryborough Butter Factory would officially be closed and placed into voluntary liquidation. The factory was established in 1918 — it was the first industry established by the Maryborough Progress Association.
