Trentham defeated an incredibly gallant Royal Park following a final quarter surge.
Scores were level at the final change as the Tigers were determined to mark their final road trip before their Rovers merger next season with a win, but it was not to be as the Saints warmed up for their week one elimination final.
The Saints got off to a good start as they scored eight goals to six to lead by two goals at the first change, and were able to extend their cushion in the second quarter when they scored 12 goals to 10 to take a four-goal lead.
But the third quarter belonged to Royal Park, as they were determined to make every goal count. They were able to score 15 goals, while holding the Saints to 11 of their own, to tie the game up at the final change.
But with the game on the line, the Saints proved much too strong, scoring 14 goals in the last term to the Tigers’ five to eventually record a strong win.
Sharna Ford scored 21 goals for Trentham, and she was joined by Prue Higgins, who scored 15.
Abbey Devereaux did the bulk of the scoring for Royal Park, finishing with 30 goals.
