Avoca went into their match with Trentham confident of a good showing, but the Saints had the Bulldogs chasing tail from the opening bounce as the Saints ran out comfortable winners by 88 points.

It was a dominant first half, particularly in the second term where the Saints kicked eight goals to just two, to lead at half time by 59 points and the game was in the bag.

It was a more competitive second half by Avoca, but the Saints still outscored them by four goals, but the Saints were also astray, kicking nine behinds as well.

The main avenue to goal came from Old Melburnians recruit James Regan, who was unstoppable kicking nine goals for the visitors, but it was Joel Cowan who continues his consistent start to the season, earning his fourth mention in the Saints’ best players.

Regan has now kicked 20 goals in four games for the Saints, and is just one goal behind Brodie Leonard-Shannon from Maldon who heads the goal kicking table.

Others to play well in the Saints victory were Alister Ferrier, Joel Dovaston, Sam Kelly, and Ryan Thiesz.

The Bulldogs were well served by Clayton Winter, Campbell Blair, Scott Cawthan and Brayden Northern, while Cameron Antonio and Byron Wynd also impressed for the Bulldogs.
