Victoria has recorded the lowest number of new daily COVID-19 cases in almost a month while local cases continue to spring up.

The Department of Health confirmed on Monday that 4911 new cases had been recorded in Victoria, the lowest since June 11 when 4724 cases were reported by the department.

Of the new cases, 1089 were recorded through PCR tests while 3822 probable cases were flagged by rapid antigen tests, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to 43,110.

There were six new cases recorded in the Central Goldfields Shire yesterday, bringing the total number of active cases to 30, while the neighbouring Pyrenees Shire saw four new cases to bring the active total to 45 and Hepburn recorded a further eight cases, with their total now sitting at 84.

There are currently 657 Victorians hospitalised with COVID-19, with 31 cases in ICU. One life was lost in the 24 hours to Monday, bringing the total number of lives lost in the state to 4751.

Females aged 30-39 are the age group with the highest percentage of active COVID-19 cases with 4163, followed by females aged 20-29 with 3689 and females aged 40 through to 49 with 3623 currently active cases.

Comparatively, there are currently 3184 active cases in the 30-39 age group for males, 2609 for the 20-29 age group and males aged between 40 and 49 currently have 2684 active cases in the age group.
