Students from Avoca Primary School have opted to choose tap by bringing a sustainable community project to life.
As part of a Blue Light program, students put forward the project concept around the potential for a water fountain to be installed at the Avoca Recreation Reserve that would provide easy access to quality drinking water, in a sustainable way for the Avoca community.
Central Highlands Water (CHW) supported the project, from concept to reality through providing the Choose Tap water fountain for installation at the reserve.
Central Highlands Water managing director Jeff Haydon said the installation supports CHW’s initiatives to promote the importance of staying hydrated for healthy and wellbeing benefits.
“We are committed to improving our local community’s health and wellbeing, by actively supporting initiatives which promote the importance of staying hydrated like this new Choose Tap water fountain at the Avoca Recreation Reserve,” he said.
“Through this initiative, we are not only encouraging hydration, but are joining forces with the Avoca community to reduce single-use plastic waste by encouraging and promoting the refilling of reusable water bottles.
“We can all do our part for the environment, make the sustainable choice, and Choose Tap.”
Maintaining sufficient levels of water is important for your health, but can also contribute while participating in sport or in the classroom.
The installation was delivered in partnership between Central Highlands Water, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, Blue Light Victoria, Pyrenees Shire Council, Maryborough District Health Services and Avoca Primary School.
