If you have passed through Maryborough’s CBD in the past two weeks, it’s likely you’ve spotted the fenced in space on 65 High Street, and the sprawling mesh banner across it, featuring an animated coffee cup.

Brewing more than just excitement, the new signage follows the commencement of works in the previously empty lot — now, set to be home to the town’s first drive through cafe, Smooth Street.

Expected to be up and running by May, the joint’s co-owner and former Maryborough local, Pat Cummins said he is looking forward to serving the community.

“I’m very excited to be able to supply [residents] with some quality barista made coffee, made from locally roasted beans,” he said.

“Our food menu is going to be amazing as well.”

While the opening is still two months away, Mr Cummins said people keen on working at the cafe could apply now and secure a position.

“We’re very interested in getting some resumes and hiring a number of casual, permanent part-time and other staff,” he said.

“Anyone looking to be trained as a world-class barista, [like] our manager, feel free to contact us.

“There’ll be around 10 to 15 jobs we’ll be looking at filling.”

When the drive through is operational, it is expected to be accessible from two separate entrances on High Street and Clarendon Street — the latter is likely to be the access point forvehicles, with cars expected to turn left in and left out after going around the shop.

For those seeking to explore employment opportunities at Smooth Street, contact 0400 059 851.

Proposed plans of what the new drive-through coffee shop will look like, with entry and exit both on Clarendon Street.
