Three Pyrenees Shire councillors have been recognised for their almost 50 years of combined service to the community, awarded by the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV).
Councillors David Clark, Tanya Kehoe and mayor Ron Eason were recognised at this year’s MAV awards for their years of service.
Councillor Clark was recognised for serving 25 years as a councillor, while Crs Kehoe and Eason were both awarded for serving 10 years.
Cr Eason was also recognised with the Mayor Emeritus award for serving three or more terms as mayor.
Pyrenees Shire CEO Jim Nolan thanked all three councillors for representing the shire “consistently and reliably”.
“Congratulations to our councillors who were recognised at the MAV Councillor Service Awards,” he said.
“It’s not easy being a councillor and to give up so much of your time to work for the community is something that should be recognized.
“To step up and run for council is a big task. The councillors you elect are required to make a wide range of decisions in the best interests of the community, and to represent and advocate for our community in various forums.
“It’s important that we have members of the community willing to undertake the office of councillor for and from our community.
“Thank you to our councillors who have looked after our community consistently and reliably.”
